Will I go to hell if I'm not baptized the way Jesus Christ was baptized?

Hello and welcome to the weekly broadcast of the program preach the gospel. Trouble is coming to the earth. The program designed to give you effective solution for living victoriously in this troubled world.

Some people are becoming born of the spirit but are not becoming born of water. And this is happening everywhere especially among the younger generation. In many denominations, there's a considerable gap between the prayer of repentance and the water baptism. Some wait for years to become baptized. And this is a huge problem. And it is an example of the impact of error in churches today. Yet the Father thought it good to send one of the greatest prophets to call people to repentance and baptism by immersion ahead of the arrival of His Son Jesus Christ.

And the apostles continue to baptize new converts. Then the great commission tells us to go forth baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I call forth a season when baptism becomes very important and in all churches efforts are being made to baptize young believers, old believers who have skipped this essential process. And we will look at one of the main reasons that baptism have been tossed aside. The leadership in the church must bear much of the responsibility.

However, the born again believer can and must see to it that he is baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. When we blatantly ignore God's commands in one area, it opens us up to more neglect in other areas. And this carelessness toward baptism has caused a ripple effect in which other commands of God are disregarded. In other words, believers have become careless toward many other things that the Word of God says are important to our profession of faith.

Let us pray. Father, we give You thanks and praise for Your love and mercy this wonderful day and all Your many blessings. We thank You for the blood of Your Son Jesus Christ upon the message, the messenger and especially upon the listeners to the message. Open the eyes of the listeners. Father, we pray to the fact that water baptism is the fulfillment of all righteousness. Just that Jesus Christ said, it is an essential part of the salvation process. Father, we thank You and praise You and bless You in Jesus holy name. Amen.

Baptist churches brought believers baptism back to life in the Christian church years ago. Since 1609, Baptists have been the chief proponents of believers baptism. They were the denomination that objected to the sprinkling or pouring water on the head of infants and upon adults and calling it baptism. Baptists get their name from the word baptism which at first was only a nickname meant to shame them for their adamant stance on baptism. Then they adopted it as their full name. They led the 17th century charge of insisting that baptism should be by total immersion and should not be performed on infants. They taught that baptism should only be performed on adults or young believers who were old enough to consciously make a decision for their own faith and this is right and pleasing to God. May God bless the Baptist church for standing up for truth in those dark days of the gospel. Jesus Christ is the one who said baptism is necessary for entrance into heaven.

Biblical evidence of the need for baptism comes directly from Him. As He spoke to a man called Nicodemus. We all know the story. A Pharisee who came to him in the dark of night seeking salvation. Nicodemus was searching for the true way into God's kingdom. And Jesus Christ told him, "Unless one is born of water and the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." Thus, water baptism is essential to the salvation process. Without it, there is no salvation. These are the faithful and true words of Jesus Christ in John 3 and 5.

Another outstanding piece of evidence is found in Matthew 28:18 called the great commission. These were the final words of Jesus Christ to His apostles spoken on a mountain just before He ascended to the Father. He declared, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Well, Satan has been attacking baptism for more than 2,000 years. He began by beheading the baptizer himself, John the Baptist. As I said earlier, the minimizing of the importance of baptism is not a new trend. Water baptism has been under attack in every century since the time of Christ. Satan must have celebrated when the Catholic Church moved away from baptism by immersion and toward infant baptism.

The method went from total immersion to sprinkling or pouring and later on the trend was adopted by other denominations. It is proper and necessary to bless children. We see it in the Old Testament. However, infant baptism is actually church tradition and is not in accordance with scripture.

In the 1800s, reformers pushed for the restoration of baptism by immersion, and it became a prerequisite to becoming a follower of Christ. Baptism represents the washing away of sin from our physical body, especially our bones, identification with Christ through His death and resurrection and initiation into the family of God.

Here's why the church must bear the blame for the tepid attitude toward baptism today. Religious sociologists say that there has been a shift in the way that people connect with churches today. They say in the past the process used to be believe, join, belong.

However, more recently the process had been more like belong, believe join. This is saying a commitment to participating in church membership, baptismal classes as they call it, is now required before baptism can be performed. At the end of the membership classes, the candidates are now ready for baptism. Once baptized, they are now able to join the congregation. In many churches, if they do not go through the class, they never become baptized. The only prerequisite for baptism according to scripture is faith that leads to Godly repentance. That's it.

Here's the problem with this unscriptural approach. By dangling baptism as a carrot to join the church, it forces individuals to make a decision to join a church before they're ready to commit to church membership there. And the Word of God does not say this. And you can be sure God is against it. Theologians say it has resulted in a disconnect in which people have put off baptism because they're not quite ready to commit to that particular congregation.

This is a major scriptural and procedural blunder and an evil orchestrated by none other than Satan himself. Church membership should not be required before baptism is performed and baptism should never be put off. It is wrong to put church membership ahead of baptism. In fact, in the early church days, baptism often came along with repentance. These two events were joined together. Furthermore, John the Baptist was at the River Jordan baptizing whoever came whether they were Jew or Gentile. And there were many non-Jewish people living in Judea in those days. Jesus Christ's baptism was glorious.

Many were baptized before Him. But the most outstanding and the first recorded baptism in the history of the Christian church was the baptism of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist in the Jordan River when the Father commissioned him on that occasion. John the Baptist did not feel worthy to perform the exercise and tried to discourage Jesus Christ who told him to allow it to be done so that all righteousness may be fulfilled. And what did this fulfillment of all righteousness mean? Well, it meant the fulfillment of all of God's commands, which is the only way for us to receive righteousness is through obedience to the Father. So then, baptism can be seen as requirement for the fulfillment of all righteousness in every believer in Christ.

In confirming his call as a baptizer, John the Baptist said that the one who sent him to baptize with water, who is God the Father, told him how to recognize Jesus Christ. He told him that the one upon whom he saw the Spirit of the Living God descending and remaining on Him is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit and John 1:33.

Therefore, of all the thousands of people baptized by John the Baptist, there was only one upon whom he saw the Spirit of the living God descending and remaining on, and that was none other than Jesus Christ. Believers in Christ should not go out, friend, on missions, in fact, unless they are baptized.

Everyone called by God is required to be baptized. Believers in Christ must keep in mind that you should not go out to carry the gospel unless you are sent and you have not been sent unless you are baptized. We see this very clearly in the life of the Apostle Paul. I want to show you a specific thing that happened. Most of us know the story of how God blinded him for three days. But the first thing the apostle was instructed to do after receiving his sight after his conversion was to become baptized.

The apostle story also serves to paint a clear picture of the importance of baptism. When the Lord sent a devout man called Ananias to Saul, here's the evidence. In Acts 22, Ananas said, "Receive thy sight." And in that same hour, Saul's eyes were opened. Then Ananias told him that the God of our fathers had chosen him to be a witness to all men of what he had seen and heard.

And then he sent him out to be baptized and wash away his sins while calling on the name of the Lord. It was the start of one of the greatest missions in the history of Christianity. And therefore, if Jesus Christ's ministry began with baptism, if Paul's ministry began the same way, why should it be any different for any believer in Christ Jesus called to follow the Lord Jesus Christ?

When we fail to perform rights or sacraments ordained by God, we open ourselves up for attacks by the enemy. We must make sure all righteousness is fulfilled to the best of our ability.

And you may recall this story in which Moses was so badly afflicted by the Lord that he could not move. He appeared to be somewhat paralyzed in fact and his wife had to perform the surgical procedure on their son. And she was not happy about this. She called him a bloody husband. If the boy was not circumcised when Moses went against Pharaoh, it is possible that Satan would have had ammunition, legal authority to kill either Moses or the boy or do some other despicable thing.

Paul says we should keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace because there's only one way to the Father. Believers are urged to stay close to the letter of the Word of God. Do not chase after tradition, my friend. Chase after the Word of God. Hunger and thirst for the righteousness of God's Word. The Apostle Paul wrote the following. There is one body and one Spirit. Just as you were called in one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, and get this, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all. Ephesians 4: 1-6. I also take this to mean there's only one way to be baptized. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and by immersion.

Do not place tradition ahead of God's Word. I say it again because tradition can sometimes be all over the place, especially designed by the enemy to draw us away from obedience to the Word of God. Follow the Word of God, friend. Then you will be in unity and in harmony with the entire body of believers in Christ. Satan hates baptism.

I've noticed that there's always spiritual resistance centered around our efforts to perform baptism. Satan will show up one way or the other to try and prevent it from happening or will attempt to diminish its significance and impact. On the streets, we find new converts are eager for baptism. Once they've committed their lives to the Lord, they say they are looking forward to their baptism. However, by the time the baptism is planned, the devil has often stepped in and put his foot down, and some end up cancelling or not showing up.

Here are seven key things that Satan tries to do in order to prevent believers in Christ from fulfilling all righteousness. He works hard to prevent us from covering all the bases in your striving for the presence of God. Make sure you fulfill all of His holy Word in your life.

The most consequential thing that Satan does is to persuade believers in Christ to put off repenting and becoming born of the Spirit.

If he cannot prevent a person from committing their life to the Lord, he will try to prevent them from becoming baptized or deceive them into believing that the sprinkling of water over them is baptism.

Then he works hard to prevent believers from reading the Word of God every day. If he cannot discourage them from studying the Bible, he may deceive them into reading one puny verse a day or convince them to toss aside either the New Testament or the Old Testament, saying one or the other is irrelevant.

He discourages believers in Christ from attending church consistently. And he's having huge successes with this in today's generation.

He tries to discourage believers in Christ from tithing, making the case that tithing is Old Testament because there's no evidence that Jesus Christ taught about tithing.

He works to discourage people from taking command of the atmosphere around them by praying aloud and by reading God's Word aloud. He tries to silence believers in Christ, turning them into powerless, silent believers.

He also works to deceive people into thinking that salvation can be won by works, causing them to return to the works of the law.

May God bless you with a good understanding of this message. May He keep you. May He strengthen you and make sure you are a part of the body of believers in Christ.

Perhaps listening to this message, there's someone who does not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We want to give you an opportunity to make that commitment today. Please engage your heart, your soul, your mind, your entire body and say this prayer of repentance after me:

  • Father, I am a sinner.

  • I am sorry for all my sins.

  • I crave Your forgiveness, Father.

  • Please forgive me.

  • I thank You for Your forgiveness.

  • Today, I invite Jesus Christ into my heart.

  • Dear Lord Jesus, please make my heart Your home.

  • I give You the key to my heart today because I want to belong to You forever.

  • Please keep the key forever.

  • And please give me the Holy Spirit to lead me into all truth to shepherd me along the way.

  • To open my eyes to the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of the Word of God and to give me peace.

  • Thank You Lord for saving my soul. Amen.

Welcome friend to the body of believers in Christ. There are so many of us here awaiting the return of the Good Master, patiently trusting, believing, occupying until He comes. In the meantime, we encourage you to become water baptized as quickly as possible. Let your pastor know you want to be baptized the way Jesus Christ was baptized.

Begin reading the Word of it every day. Begin in the book of John, then go to Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Reading audibly as often as possible because faith comes by hearing the Word of God.

Pray daily, attend at your local church, and one glad morning the Savior will come and receive us all unto Himself. And we shall indeed forever be with the Lord. God bless and keep you in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
