The Holy Spirit, a mover, a shaker, wind, fire, breath, oil of anointing. He is all of this.

Welcome to Jeshurun Ministries program, Preach the Gospel. Trouble is coming to the earth. It's the program designed to give you answers on how to live victoriously in times of trouble.

We are introduced to the awesome Holy Spirit at the very beginning of the Holy Bible. In fact, He shows up in the second verse. And it is a peculiar introduction that leaves us with a lot of questions about the Holy Spirit's form and just what sort of entity He is. It has made many wonder is He a person or is He a thing? And this confusion happened because in the beginning He assumes the role of a powerful mover, shaker, shaper of the structure of the most watery planet in the entire solar system and perhaps in the universe.

There are a number of religions that view the Holy Spirit as a thing, as a power, as a force, as an it. They do not view Him as a conscious being, as a member of the Godhead, and as a person who is one with the Father and the Son. Prominent among those holding these beliefs are the Jehovah's Witnesses, Biblical Unitarianism and others included in that group also are Judaism. These have no problem viewing Him as the breath of God, a force, as a wind, but they refuse to acknowledge that He is a holy being.

I can understand why some are confused about this one who is called the Spirit of The Living God for a number of reasons. First off, many of us believe a physical being is higher than a spiritual being. We think a spirit is an it or a thing. And the Bible tells us that a spiritual being is eternal, is more versatile and more powerful than a human being. Because a human being is made from the dust of the earth and we have no understanding about the material, about the fabric that spirit beings are made from. Think about it.

Father, we give You thanks and praise for this awesome day and all Your wonderful blessings that You have showered upon us. I declare a special blessing on all who listen to this message. I pray God's healing and delivering hand upon them in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Some of us are confused by the amazing, superhuman, and miraculous works that the Holy Spirit performs. We will examine some of these mind-boggling things that the Holy Spirit has done, especially in the book of Genesis. And we are all blown away by His dramatic entrance into the upper room on the day of Pentecost. We cannot imagine what kind of entity He might be. We cannot wrap our minds around Him. He is what you may call an enigma. He's mysterious. He's difficult to understand, difficult to explain. The Holy Spirit is an unexplainable mystery that baffles the understanding of our puny brains. He's far greater than AI in His thinking capacity and more powerful than the greatest cyclone imaginable. Welcome to this incomplete, inadequate, and imperfect message on the awesome and wonderful Spirit of The Living God.

But here's the most exciting thing about the Holy Spirit for us. He lives in our hearts. The Father has repackaged Him so that we can have a piece of Him in our heart. All who have come to Jesus Christ, having repented of their sins and have been baptized, have the Holy Spirit as a deposit on their inheritance. And some of us have received an even greater portion of His anointing power.

The Genesis 1 introduction to the Holy Spirit. In this opening scene, He lifts water up into the sky and clouds are formed. He operates in these tasks as a creator, an architect, a builder, a lifter, a heavy lifter that is.

And we are told in Genesis 1 and 2 that the Spirit of the Lord moved upon the face of the waters. Some translations say He was hovering. Others say He was vibrating or He was moving or fluttering over the waters. If you want to get an idea of this, stand near the seashore from an elevated position in the very early hours of the morning right after sunrise. Look down at the surface of the water and you will see the shimmering silver like flashes of the sun all over the face of the water. It is like a rich tapestry of silver lights. It is simply amazing to watch as the sun provides this silvery light show that goes on and on until the sun moves higher in the sky. When I look at it, I think about how the Word of God says that the Holy Spirit moved or hovered over the water. I imagine that this must be the way that He hovered over the waters.

And you might be interested in knowing how much water He had to work with on this blue marble known as the earth. The experts estimate that there are about 534 trillion Olympic size swimming pools full of water in the oceans of the world. Yet they dismiss the amount of water in the oceans as being nothing in comparison to the amount of solid matter in planet Earth. Someone drew another illustration saying that if the earth was an apple, the water would be like the skin of the apple and the rest of the apple would represent the solid part of the earth. When we stand on the seashore and look out at the huge ocean of water, it sure looks like it's more than only the skin of the apple or the skin of the earth.

No matter what it is, it is still a huge amount of water impossible to be moved by any force on earth. But the Holy Spirit began moving this humongous body of water on the second day of creation. He was somewhat like an all powerful bulldozer that came to shape the landscape of a piece of property before construction and development began, but on a much much wider scale.

The experts say that moving any large body of water is a huge and almost impossible task. They say it is a massive engineering, logistical and ecological exercise that requires very large industrial pumping stations. They say the job will require tunnels, aqueducts, gigantic pipes, etc. For example, China has a project called South to North Water Diversion Project that they've been working on for decades. The project has cost already more than $70 billion as they try to move 44.8 million cubic meters of water annually. It is estimated that it will not be finished for another 25 years. And this job is peanuts compared to the huge water transportation and water diversion project that the Holy Spirit undertook at the creation of the earth. Consider that we have this dynamo of power on the inside of us. All who are born again believers in Christ Jesus.

First He moved upon the water and separated some of it into the atmosphere above the earth. In the beginning there was no sky and of course no clouds. He created that which is called the sky or the heavens. And the holy scriptures call it a firmament. The Word of God says on the second day God said let there be a firmament between the waters in the air and the waters below. It is interesting that God called this expanse in which the clouds and the birds operate heaven. This is the first heaven. Satan's kingdom is the second heaven. And the real heaven where the Father dwells is referred to as the third heaven.

The apostle Paul describes an incredible experience in which he was caught up to the heaven in which the Father lives in a vision. In 2 Corinthians 12:2, he said that he was caught up to the third heaven. He said he could not tell whether it was an in the body or an out of the body experience. He was caught up into paradise where he heard what he called inexpressible words which it is not lawful for a man to utter. He made it clear that he was not boasting of himself. He said he was given a messenger of Satan to buffet him so that he would remain humble as a result of this awesome experience. He said that he asked the Lord three times to take it away from him and the Lord told him my grace is sufficient for you for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Friend, this is why the Lord weakens His children in order that they may remain humbled. We see here a clear illustration of how important it is for every born again believer in Christ to have a spirit of humility.

The Holy Spirit gathers the water together next in order to reveal the land. In the beginning, there was no land visible anywhere on the entire planet. The earth was 100% covered by water and the Holy Spirit began moving this massive body of water to reveal the land underneath. He began to shape and develop landscape. This gives us a more dramatic view of the immense power and magnitude of the Holy Spirit as He created these separation. God's Spirit gathered the waters together in one place, all of it, and dry land appeared. Once again, I ask you, can you grasp the awesome gift of this powerful Holy Spirit living on the inside of us human beings?

It appears that He stored some of the water high up in the glaciers, some of which are melting today. From this we know that all the oceans throughout the entire planet are connected except the Dead Sea and the Caspian Sea, which were previously connected as one body. These two seas were separated from the main body of water by shifts in the tectonic plate many years ago. We also know that there's enough water in the oceans to flood all the coastal areas of the earth if the glaciers that is were to completely melt. This is consistent with the warnings of climate change experts about the dangerous rising water levels as the glaciers have begun melting due to increased temperatures on the earth. They say some land mass will disappear altogether and some island nations will be wiped off the map.

It is impossible for anyone to measure the power of the Holy Spirit or the power that Christ operated with.

For instance, a typical power plant produces 500 to 2,000 megawatts of power. A nuclear plant produces 1,000 to 4,000 megawatts. A hydro electric plant can be incredibly more powerful, producing 22,500 megawatts of electrical power. And the Holy Spirit has more power than all the electrical plants in the entire world combined.

Next, the Holy Spirit is breathed into man as the breath of God. The awesome Holy Spirit has many forms. He took on another role when man was being created. According to Genesis 2:7, God breathed into man's nostrils, the breath of life, and he became a living soul. The Holy Spirit would certainly have been there like a huge ventilator, lending His breath to man and making him a living soul. After all, the breath of God is the name given to the Holy Spirit.

Job 33 and 4 shines an enormously bright light on this process by saying the Spirit of God has made me and the breath of The Almighty has given me life. Where did Job get this understanding from? Who told him this? Of course, the Spirit of The Living God must have told him this. This breath of God that breathes into us from birth is called a deposit on our inheritance which we receive at salvation.

Next in line, God makes a huge slash in the number of years that His breath will be in man. The next time that we see the Holy Spirit is many years later. At this time, the Father seemed to have had some regrets. In fact, serious regrets about having given His breath to man and allowing him to live hundreds of years upon the earth, living sinfully without regard to God. Man had constantly ignored the fact that it is in Him, in the Father, that we live and move and have our being and that we are His offspring. According to the book of Acts.

Therefore, in His wrath before flooding the earth, the Father announced that He would reduce man's lifespan to 120 years, no longer allowing Him to parade sinfully upon the earth for hundreds of years, breathing God's breath while disregarding His commands, refusing even to accept that he was made by the all powerful Creator God, aided by His Son, Jesus Christ, and by His awesome Holy Spirit. However, because of the mercy of God, this reduction happened gradually, man's days became shorter and shorter and then leveled off to around 120 years.

However, man's moral decline continued for hundreds of years, even as it continues today. According to Psalm 90, the Father decreased man's lifespan again by 50 years, this time, making it 70 years and 80 by reason of strength. In fact, God is on His way to eliminating sinful man altogether. Only the saints of God will be allowed in the holy city.

He said that His Spirit will not strive with man continually. Genesis 6:3 tells us about this. Some versions say His Spirit will not contend with man continually. Another version says He will not put up with man continually. And this means that the Spirit of the Lord is able to be recognized and obeyed by man. However, mankind was constantly grieving the Spirit of the Lord. For instance, when man dies, he can no longer grieve God because the breath which represents God's Spirit leaves the body of the man. And once the breath leaves, the man is essentially dead.

Next in line, David said that the Holy Spirit is inescapable. We find this in Psalm 139: 7 and 8. And we hear him musing about the impossibility of getting away from the Spirit of the Lord. And he asked the question,

"Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Where shall I flee from Your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, You are there. If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me."

If I say, "Surely the darkness shall fall upon me, even the night shall be light about me." Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, but the night shines as the day. The darkness and the light both alike to you.

Of course, the psalmist does not want to get away from God's Holy Spirit. He's simply making the point that there's no place that we can go where the Holy Spirit will not be available to us.

It is impossible to escape from God's Holy Spirit no matter where we go because He's everywhere. And now we see that He is more than the Maker, Mover, Shaker, and Shaper of the physical earth and the universe. He's also the very breath of God that gives man life. And He's everywhere. And He dwells inside of us. What amazing power human beings walk around with. Imagine how it would be if all believers in Christ walked in His power the way God intended. How would it be if we all worshiped Him in spirit and in truth?

You've been listening to this message and perhaps you do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. But we want to give you an opportunity to make that commitment today as we always do in these videos. Please engage your heart and say this prayer after me:

  • Father, I am a sinner.

  • I am sorry for all my sins.

  • I crave Your forgiveness.

  • Please have mercy on me.

  • I have decided to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

  • Dear Lord Jesus, welcome to my heart.

  • I give You the key to my heart because I now belong to You forever.

  • Please keep the key.

  • Even if I ask You for it, do not return it to me.

  • Please give me the Holy Spirit to lead me into all truth.

  • Thank You, Lord, for saving my soul. Amen.

Welcome, friend, to the body of believers in Christ. Many of us are here awaiting the return of the Good Master. One of these bright mornings, heaven will open and Jesus Christ will descend and receive us all unto Himself. And the Word of God says, "We shall forever be with the Lord."

But in the meantime, we want to encourage you to become water baptized as quickly as possible. Let your pastor know that you've committed your life to the Lord and you want to be baptized the way Jesus Christ was baptized.

Begin reading the Word of God every day. It is your daily food. It is necessary to keep you strong and to help you resist temptation. Begin in the book of John. Then go to Matthew, Mark, and Luke reading audibly as often as possible because faith comes by hearing the Word of God.

Pray daily. Attend at your local church. And one glad morning the Savior will come and receive us all unto Himself. And we shall indeed forever and ever be with the Lord. God bless and keep you in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
