The drama of the seven seals and God's judgment on the earth. That's our message.
The scariest book in the Bible of course is the book of Revelation. Many are afraid of reading it, even some pastors I am told. And some say the book is merely symbolism. Others say it describes actual dramatic events. Some say the seven seals have already been opened and presently we are at seal number six. Others say none of the seals have been opened yet. Whatever the truth of the matter we can all agree that John's vivid description of the events that follow the breaking of the seven seals, paint a picture of some of the most terrible times ever on earth. And some are afraid of the book, in particular because of Revelation 22 and 19 which says, "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
There is no need to fear the writings of the holy book of Revelation if you come to the Lord with a pure heart, that is a heart that is broken and contrite. And Father we thank you for this word. Send it forth under the anointing of your Holy Spirit. Bless the listeners to this word that some may come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We thank you and praise you for your precious word in Jesus name, amen.
As you recall John the Apostle was invited to go up to heaven by a voice that sounded like a trumpet talking, when a door to heaven was open to him and he witnessed a glorious scene, in which the God of heaven was sitting on a throne with a scroll in His right hand, surrounded by four beasts and 24 elders, clothed in white garments and wearing crowns. It was a stirring scene that included thundering's, lightning and voices.
As for the book in the Father's hand, the
apostle wept like an infant because no one
was found worthy to open and read
the scroll, and not even to look on the
inside. However he was swiftly comforted
by one of the elders who told him that the
Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of
David, had prevailed to open the book,
and to loose the seven seals by which the
scrolls were bound. When he had taken
the book from the Father's hands, the four
beasts and the elders worshiped the
Lamb with their harps. Then thousands
upon thousands of angels joined in saying,
"Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to
receive power and riches and wisdom and
strength and honor and glory and
blessing. And every creature in heaven
and on earth, and under the earth, joined
in the worship of the Father and the Lamb
of God forever and ever.
And then the Lamb proceeded to open the
seven seals one by one. Each seal is an
event without time, without date, without
duration of the event. The first
four seals mark the release of the four
horsemen of the apocalypse, each horse
having a different color. And these four are
devastating global events. The four beasts
perform the duties of tour guides
showing these tragic events to the
apostle. There will be no nation, people,
tribe or tongue on earth that will not feel
the brunt of these global disasters.
Our generation has experienced a global
catastrophic event in the COVID pandemic
and it is like nothing we have ever
experienced. There are also some alive
today who've gone through a world war.
These trying times of recent days will
perhaps be nothing in comparison to most
of the events that will unfold at the
breaking of the seven seals. When the
Lamb of God opened the first seal, one
called the conqueror went forth riding on a
white horse. He had a bow and a crown
was given to him and he went out
conquering and to conquer.
Since the color white symbolizes purity
and victory this figure can be Jesus Christ
and His conquering gospel that has gone
forth to the whole world. Or it can be the
antichrist and his reign of deception
conquering every nation until he rules the
entire world. When He opened the second
seal a fiery red horse went out and it was
granted to one who sat on it to take
peace from the earth and that people
should kill one another, and there was
given to him a great sword. When He
opened the third seal, behold a black
horse and he who sat on it had a
pair of scales in his hand, and a quart of
wheat cost a denarius, and three quarts of
barley cost a denarius.
One denarius in those days was the
equivalence of a day's
wage apparently, and so this was
significant of a time of famine. However
there was no shortage of
oil and wine at the time. When He opened
the fourth seal behold a pale horse
and the name of him who sat on it was
death and hades followed with him. And
power was given to them over a fourth
of the earth to kill with sword, with hunger,
with death, and by the beasts of the earth.
When He opened the fifth seal, John said,
"I saw under the altar the souls of those
who had been slain for the word of
God and for the testimony which they
held." They were asking the Lord God how
long it would be before He avenged
their blood on those dwelling on earth.
And they were given a white robe
apparently and told to rest a while until the
rest of souls would come in. When He
opened the sixth seal, there
were cosmic disturbances such as
earthquakes, the sun refusing to shine,
stars falling from heaven, mountains and
islands moving out of their places.
At this time the fear and terror of God's
wrath was so great, that all men, the word
of God says great and small, tried to
hide themselves from the face of the one
who sits on the throne and from the wrath
of the Lamb of God, by calling on
the mountains and rocks to fall on them, to
hide them from the face of the one sitting
on the throne.
In addition John saw at that time a great
multitude which no one could number
from every nation, tribe, people and
tongues standing before the throne and
before the Lamb clothed in white robes,
and with palm branches in their
hands, crying with a loud voice saying,
"Salvation belongs to our God who sits on
the throne and to the Lamb."
These had come out of the great
tribulation and had washed
their robes and made them white in the
blood of the Lamb and were now before
the throne of God serving Him day and
night in His temple. Then the word of God
says this about those who make up this
great multitude. The one who sits on
the throne will dwell among them, they
shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst
anymore. The sun shall not strike them nor
any heat. For the Lamb who is in the midst
of the throne will shepherd them, and lead
them to living fountains of waters,
and God will wipe away every tear from
their eyes.
When He opened the seventh seal, four
angels stood at the four corners of the
earth, holding back the four winds of the
earth, so that it would not blow on the
earth, on the sea, or on any tree. These
four angels were getting ready to harm the
earth but were told to hold back until
144,000 servants of God were sealed in
their foreheads. 12,000 from every tribe of
Israel was sealed at that time. Now
suddenly at the opening of the seventh
seal it seemed as if the brakes had come
on, and the trauma, the drama, and
catastrophic events are all
over because suddenly there's silence in
heaven for about a half an hour, the word
of God says. But what it really was in
fact is the calm before the real storm.
Then there were seven angels standing
before God and to each of them were
given seven trumpets. Then an eighth
angel came to whom was given much
incense, so that he would offer it along
with the prayers of all the saints upon the
golden altar, which was before the throne.
And the smoke from the incense along
with the prayers of the saints of God
ascended before God from the angel's
hand in glorious fashion.
But then the angel took the sensor, filled it
with fire from the altar and threw it down
to the earth, and there arose noises
from the earth, thundering's, lightnings,
and an earthquake. And the seven angels
who had the seven trumpets prepared
themselves to sound these trumpets.
When we take a look at the seven seals,
the seven trumpets and the seven bowls
of Revelation we might begin to
understand why God's judgment has
taken so long to come.
From the time of the apostles it seemed as
if the people of God were expecting the
imminent return of Jesus Christ,
when in fact after almost 2,000 years He
still has not returned. But when we look at
the extent and the harshness
of God's judgment, His wrath, we begin to
understand why it has been so important
for God to delay His wrath as long as
possible, because it will be so terrible for
those who are alive on earth at that time.
The seven seals seem devastating
enough, yet they are only the beginning.
They are the tip of the iceberg so to
speak.
There are two more sets of seven
judgments left to come.
The seven trumpets are harsher than the
seven seals, only to be followed by the
seven bowls, which are harsher still.
Because of God's mercy He's given us
every possible opportunity and ample time
to repent of our sins and to turn
away from them, looking to Jesus the
author and finisher of our faith. God bless
and keep you. May He give you a good
understanding of His word in Jesus name.
You've been listening to this message and
perhaps you do not know Jesus Christ as
Lord and Savior. Well my friend you do not
want to be on the wrong side of the fence,
when the seven seals are broken.
Please engage your heart and say this
prayer after me and the Lord God will
answer your request:
-Father I am a sinner.
-I am sorry for all my sins.
-I crave your forgiveness.
-I need your forgiveness.
-Thank you for your patience with me.
-I have decided to accept Jesus Christ as
my Lord and Savior.
-Lord Jesus welcome to my heart.
-Today I give you the key to my heart
because I now belong to you forever.
-Please give me the Holy Spirit to lead
me into all truth, to keep me from being
deceived by error.
-Thank you Lord for saving my soul, amen.
Welcome friend to the body of believers in
Christ. We are all here awaiting the return
of the good master and the signs
indicate that His coming is soon to be. In
the meantime we want to encourage you
to become water baptized as quickly
as possible. Let your pastor know you've
committed your life to the Lord and you
want to be baptized the way Jesus Christ
was baptized.
Begin reading the word of God every day.
Begin in the book of John and then go to
Matthew, Mark and Luke, reading
audibly as often as possible because faith
comes by hearing the word of God. Pray
daily, attend at your local church and
one glad morning the Savior will come and
rescue us from the evil that is coming on
the earth. God bless and keep you in
Jesus name, amen.
