Salvation without repentance is like curried goat without the curry.
Hello and welcome to the Jeshuan Ministry GB channel in the Bahamas.
My friend, simply put, curried goat without the main ingredient of curry included in the preparation is a deception. It would make no sense at all. And only the very naive and unlearned about this much loved Indian delight would be deceived, especially since the yellowish color is so distinct. Curry can be added to the meal preparation as a dry powder, as a paste known as wet masala or as curry leaves along with leaves of various spices. The dish originated in the Indian areas of the world and was popularized in Asia and the Caribbean by Indians who moved there. Now it is spread globally and there are many variations using one curry form or another in the preparation and without one of these or another form of curry cooked into the meat it is simply not curry.
This message is not about curry but about the need for true repentance. It is absolutely necessary to your salvation. And the analogy is not meant in any way to trivialize the awesome gift of salvation. Rather, we will attempt to show you how incomplete, how fake, how unreal salvation is if there's no genuine repentance. There needs to be a firm decision to turn away from your sinful past.
Here's the best decision of repentance I've ever seen. I cannot recall the source. True repentance, which is a deeper type of remorse and regret, calls for a change of mind, a change of purpose, a change of heart, and a change of life. It can be looked at as a four-step process.
Number one, having a true sense of our guilt and sinfulness.
Number two, an appreciation of God's mercy through Jesus Christ.
Number three, a hatred for sin, a decision to turn from sin to God.
And number four, a determined heart to walk with God in obedience to His Word.
Let us pray. Thank You, Lord, for Your grace and mercy. And thank You for all of Your wonderful goodness. Please carry this message forth Father, that people everywhere may come to the place of genuine repentance, the place of Godly sorrow. Father, we pray in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, in which there's a tearing, a ripping of their entire soul and heart. We thank You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. Amen.
My friend, please press the subscribe and like button on this message and be sure to send it out to people everywhere. This is the most consequential message I've ever done. Most consequential for every believer in Christ. Thank you, sir. Thank you, Ma'am. May the Father bless you forever.
There's no way to tell how many people that are believers in Christ claim to be born again have not truly repented. This will not be revealed until the day of judgment. However, what we do know is that on that day there will be many who will say, "Lord, Lord, I have prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and Christ will say, I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness." Matthew 7:23.
Clearly, those cast away by the Savior would be those who have not truly repented. Because repentance is the key to salvation. If you have it, you're saved. The Lord has made this simple for us. He says, "Repent and be saved." This is the message preached by John the Baptist, preached by Jesus Christ Himself and by the apostles. This is the message that is supposed to be preached today. And there's no one who truly repents and remains true to the call that will not be saved.
In writing 2 Corinthians 7:10 to the people of Corinth, the Apostle Paul told them, "Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted, but the sorrow of the world produces death."
And this text consists of only one sentence and yet it is most powerful and a loaded sentence. So we will dissect it and review each part separately. In summary, it tells us there are two types of sorrow and only one of them produces true repentance.
Number one, there's worldly sorrow which all humans have experienced in one way or another during the course of their lives of course and no one is exempt from this kind of sorrow. Some people only have worldly sorrow for their sins and they think it is enough. Here are the signs of worldly sorrow. Tears, sadness over our sinfulness, frustration over a habit that is sinful, but there's no change in our behavior. Many are deceived into thinking that their tears alone are sure signs of repentance, but they're not. But this is not to discourage tears, but simply to make sure you go beyond tears. We must weep until we come to change.
And Godly sorrow is a sorrow of choice. It is the sorrow that comes from recognizing how awful and offensive our sins are to God. It begins with a sorrowful plea to the Father asking forgiveness for all that was sinful in our past life. In turn, He gives us a new and clean slate going forward.
Godly sorrow, on the other hand, is the tearing, the ripping of the heart into pieces. It is mourning, weeping before God over our sinfulness, asking for change. For far too many of us, sin is no big deal. Even to many so-called believers in Christ. However, to the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, sin is a game changer, especially repetitive sins because sin brings death. And therefore, the Father insists on holiness. And without holiness, no one can see the Lord is what we're told in Hebrews 12 and 14.
Secondly, repentance is not just tears and grief, but a turning away from living a life of wickedness and turning towards salvation. It is not simply sorrow and weeping, but a turning away from the sinful behavior and a distinct change in the direction of our life. And when change comes, it is clear evidence that repentance has taken root and the door to salvation opens up to us.
Number three, this Godly sorrow is a willful action taken by believers in Christ who no longer want to offend God. The one who invokes Godly sorrow is saying they want to be an obedient child of God and their desirous of doing away with anything in their life that displeases the Father. They make a conscious decision to despise the wrongs that they've committed and to turn from them forever. This Godly sorrow is the key ingredient in repentance. And without it, there's simply no repentance.
This is the kind of sorrow that touches the heart of God, producing repentance. The only kind. Number four, this verse is telling us that because this kind of sorrow is called for by God, it does not leave us feeling regretful and miserable. Furthermore, because it leads to salvation, we are filled with joy. We are ecstatic. Yes, we are truly sorry about our disobedience. But the joy over our salvation is so awesome that it surpasses our grief and leaves us with good feelings because the joy of the Lord is our strength. It strengthens us to run on.
And number five, unfortunately, worldly sorrow alone is incomplete and produces or leads to death. Because whatever does not lead to life leads to death. Think about it. The things of this world do not and cannot lead to salvation. Therefore, they must then all lead to death. This world is passing away. So, nothing in it can help us in the long run. Nothing in the world can bring life. No one in the world.
Now, here is a very practical guideline from the book of James. Three verses that give a step-by-step avenue that will help you to determine whether your repentance is real. The author does not mince his words and gives us clear instructions with strength.
He says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you doubleminded. Lament and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up." James 4:8-10.
There's a simple five-step process laid out in this in your face message from James that will take you directly to repentance.
Number one, make a serious effort to draw near to God, friend, and something awesome will happen. You will suddenly see that He begins to draw closer to you. And suddenly half the battle is already won at this point because He then will begin to work with you to help you complete the process. But we're not done yet.
Number two, the second step is the cleansing of your hands. And this means cleaning up your life by refraining from speaking things that are displeasing to God and from doing things that are against the command of God. This is the cleaning up of the outside or the outer man. Moving away from people, moving away from places and from things that draw you into sin. And we're still not done. The third step refers to the purifying of our heart and urges us to clean up the inner man. Clean up our thoughts and desires. And since the heart is considered the seat of human desire and the place of your will, emotions, thoughts, and even our moral character, it is the engine that runs our soul. And therefore, this is a call to make sure our motives are right and pleasing to God. Here we make a choice to think about righteousness and decide to desire righteousness more than anything else in the world.
The fourth point calls upon us to grieve, shed tears, and wail over our sinfulness. Let our laughter be turned into weeping with a heavy heart for all our wickedness and for the harm we've done to many. Many go about bragging about the wrong they've done against the innocent. This calls for a reversal of that kind of behavior.
Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sewing, the Word of God tells us, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him, according to Psalm 126.
Sowing tears, therefore, over our sinfulness, cause us to produce a harvest of righteousness. But the business of being insensitive about our wickedness and being callous about the despicable nature of our behavior in the eyes of God will cause us to bring forth a harvest of death.
Number five, the fifth point tells us to come down from our high horse and recognize the loneliness of our estate. In the book of Timothy, we are told, "We brought nothing into this world and we will take nothing out with us when we leave. Therefore, there's nothing to be puffed up about.
This scripture makes no reference to those who live what is called a full life, doing it all in a big way. They would have received everything here on earth. So, there will be nothing prepared for them over there.
In summary, repentance that leads to salvation is out of this world. And I do mean out of this world. It is the only thing that leads us out of this world and into eternal life. And therefore, this worldly sorrow in which we simply say sorry and even shed tears and then move on without any sincere promise or attempt to change and without hooking in to God's supernatural power that can help us change is a fake sorrow that is very much of this world. Therefore, it can only lead to death. God bless and keep you in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
You've been listening to this message and perhaps you do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We want to give you an opportunity as usual to make a commitment and this time to make a decision to turn from sin and wickedness. Please say this prayer after me:
Father, I am a sinner.
I am very sorry for all my sins and I crave Your forgiveness.
Dear Lord, help me. I want to walk in a different way.
I want to walk with Jesus Christ leading me and guiding me.
Thank You for Your forgiveness.
Dear Lord Jesus, please make my heart Your home.
Please give me the Holy Spirit to make me wise, to give me peace, so that the joy of the Lord will be my strength and to lead me into all truth.
Thank You Lord for saving my soul. Amen.
Welcome friend to the body of believers in Christ. There are so many here awaiting the return of the Good Master. In the meantime, we want to encourage you to become water baptized as quickly as possible. It is the most important step. Let your pastor know that you've committed your life to the Lord and you want to be baptized the way Jesus Christ was. Then begin reading the Word of God. It needs to be read every day. It is your daily food. It will keep you strong. It will help you fight temptation.
Begin reading in the book of John. Then go to Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Reading audibly as often as possible because faith comes by hearing the Word of God. The more you hear it, the stronger will be your faith. Pray daily. Attend at your local church. And one glad morning, the Savior will come and receive us all unto Himself. And we shall indeed forever be with the Lord. God bless and keep you in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
