Pt.2 The Holy Spirit, A Mover, A Shaker, Wind, Fire, Breath, Oil of Anointing!

This is part two of the Holy Spirit, mover, shaker, wind, fire, breath, oil of anointing.

Welcome to Jeshurun Ministries program, preach the gospel trouble is coming to the earth. It is the program designed to help you live victoriously in times of trouble.

In part one of this message. We saw the Holy Spirit as an architect, a builder and developer of the earth. And then we saw Him as the breath of God being breathed into man, giving him life. And Job said, "The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty has given me life."

We saw the Father cutting or slashing the number of years that He allows His Spirit to give life and breath to sinful man on two separate occasions. We heard King David musing about the impossibility of escaping from the Spirit of The Living God. He's everywhere.

And now we will see the Holy Spirit take another amazing form. When Jesus Christ was baptized, we see the Holy Spirit in this form. In this instance, the Spirit of The Living God takes the bodily form of a dove. The dove is a traditional symbol of purity, innocence, and peace.

According to Matthew 3, when Christ was being baptized, He came up immediately from the water, and heaven opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending upon Him like a dove and alighting upon Him, scripture tells us. And the voice of the Father spoke from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." This is the glorious ordination of Jesus Christ and the start of His wonderful mission as Savior of the world.

Father God, we thank You. We praise You and bless You for the wonderful Spirit of The Living God and for Jesus Christ. We thank You that He lives in the heart of every born again believer. We pray that someone listening to this message, someone who does not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior or who has fallen back will come to know Him today permanently and receive the Holy Spirit at the altar call at the very end of this message Father. We thank You Lord and praise You in Jesus wonderful name. Amen.

The dove represents the descent of the Holy Spirit and the anointing of Jesus Christ as the Messiah. It is the beginning of a new dispensation for the entire world. When the dove returned to Noah, for instance, with an olive branch, it was a sign of a new life after the flood. And similarly, when Christ was baptized, the dove represented the dawn of a new day in man's relationship with God. It ushered in the season of reconciliation. God would begin drawing man back to Him in massive numbers for many years. And He's continuing to draw many even today.

In fact, John knew that one day as he continued to baptize people as directed by the Lord, one single day would be set apart from every other day of his job as baptizer in chief. He was told to look out for that day. The Spirit of the Lord told him that on that day the dove would descend upon this One and remain on them and this would usher in a new season. He said he did not know who it would be. However, the One who sent him to baptize with water, said to him,

"Upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit." And the Apostle John testified, saying that he had seen and testified that this is the Son of God. John 1 and 33.

There's a question here, though. We know that Elizabeth, John's mother, and Mary were relatives and were pregnant around the same time period. And we know that when Mary came to see Elizabeth, she said that the babe in her womb, who was John the Baptist, leapt as if with joy. So, how could John the Baptist now say that he did not know the one called Yeshua, whom we call Jesus Christ? Is this a mistake? This has been a great puzzle.

So here's my view. It was no mistake at all. First of all, they grew up in separate areas. They lived a 100 miles apart from each other. And even if Yeshua and John knew each other. John clearly did not know that Yeshua was to be the Son of God, the Messiah. In fact, no one knew what He was destined to become, who He was destined to become, except Mary and Joseph, perhaps. Secondly, John might have heard about his cousin, but never met Him. And clearly, the Holy Spirit did not tell him who the person was upon whom the dove would descend and remain. So, this would have been a complete mystery to John the Baptist as it was to all who knew Jesus Christ.

And even after John saw the Holy Spirit descending and remaining on Jesus Christ, it appears he still was not 100% sure that this was the one that he was waiting for. Because Matthew 11:2-6 tell us that while John was in prison, he heard about the works of Jesus Christ. And he sent two of his disciples to ask him,

"Are you the coming one or do we look for another?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see. The blind see and the lame walk. The lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear. The dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of me."

After Jesus Christ is anointed by the Holy Spirit, here's what happened. Directly after His baptism, Jesus was in the wilderness 40 days and 40 nights without food. There He was tempted by Satan. Then He returned to Galilee in the power of the Holy Spirit and began working, and His fame spread. When He went into the synagogue in Nazareth on the Sabbath, He turned the book to the writings of the prophet Isaiah and began reading.

He read the following. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised or oppressed, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

When He was done, He closed the book and introduced Him to the people by saying, "This prophecy was on that day fulfilled in Him." And at the time He was introducing the Holy Spirit as well to the Jewish people as the one who anointed and empowered Him for the work of the Lord.

Next we see Jesus announcing that the Holy Spirit will live in our heart. Awesome. Amazing. Wonderful. Jesus Christ went forward for three years performing many miracles. As He was preparing to depart earth at the end of His ministry, He announced a new role for the Holy Spirit. It would be a new order for those privileged to become born again believers in Christ.

And He told His apostles, I will pray the Father, He shall give you another comforter that He may abide with you forever. So we see the Spirit of the Lord as a comforter. Even the Spirit of Truth, the Word of God goes on to say, whom the world cannot receive because it does not see Him, neither does it know Him, for He dwells with you and shall be in you, I will not leave you comfortless. I will come to you. John 14 verses 15-18.

Previously, the Holy Spirit had been living among and around mankind. But now He would take up residence in the heart of every man and every woman who repents of their sin. He would be our comforter, giving us peace even in the midst of a storm. And He will become a deposit on our inheritance. He is intended to remain in the heart of the believer until Christ comes to gather His faithful.

When we consider the raw power possessed by God's Holy Spirit and think about that power living in our hearts, we can believe the Word of God that says,

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

We can believe His Word that says,

"I am more than a conqueror."

And we certainly can believe God's Word that says,

"When the enemy comes like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him." And this means that the Spirit of the Lord will prevent Satan from overcoming you, from overcoming God's faithful.

Christ now breathes the Holy Spirit on the apostles and perhaps the disciples before ascending. And this is interesting. On the evening of the same day that Mary Magdalene informed the disciples that she had seen the risen Lord, He appeared to them. They were locked away in the room with the doors shut because they were afraid of the Jews. And He entered suddenly and said,

"Peace to you." And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them. If you retain the sins of any, they are retained." John 20:22.

Here we see the Holy Spirit packaged into the breath of the Savior and being passed on to His disciples as an anointing to forgive sins and to prevent sins from being forgiven. This is interesting and awesome.

Why did Christ do this before departing though? This perhaps was to hold them, to protect and empower and keep them until the Holy Spirit would come in greater power to live on the inside of them permanently. The apostles of Jesus Christ were facing real dangers and many of them were afraid and the Jewish leaders had already persuaded the Roman authorities to crucify Jesus Christ and now His faithful apostles, disciples were next in line to be killed. They were also determined to do whatever they could to kill the rumors about Christ's resurrection before it spread all around.

And so they had reason to be fearful. But God breathed upon them to give them peace. The Holy Spirit's awesome arrival turns the world upside down now.

This is the greatest event. On the day of Pentecost about 120 were gathered in the upper room. This is the awesome Pentecost event that is known by all of us. And the Word of God says they were all with one accord, in one place, on the same page, in harmony, in peace. And there was peace and harmony among them.

There is something for us to consider here. If only all who say that they are born again believers in Christ were one in the spirit. If we all got rid of the me, me and the I, I spirit and syndrome and lived together in harmony. When they were all on one accord. Here is what happened.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit Himself gave them utterance, according to Acts 2 verse 2-4.

So we see the Holy Spirit in His awesome, dramatic, wonderful manner and form, shape and fashion. And we really see an awesome demonstration of His power.

He appears as a powerful windstorm, a loud sounding hurricane. If you have ever been in a powerful hurricane or tornado, you will recall that at times the wind sounded like a freight train moving at an incredible speed. And during the hurricane, you would have experienced this fearful sound and power as it raged on the outside while you sat hoping that you were protected by the walls and roof of your home on the inside. However, in this event, the freight train was inside the room, but there was no fear because the Spirit of the Lord brings peace.

Secondly, the Holy Spirit took the form of individual tongues or flames of fire which moved over the heads of all who were present. Then rested on them.

Thirdly, He changed their language. They all began speaking with other tongues and people outside were able to understand them in their own native languages as they moved about.

This is the singular event that turned the entire world upside down. The Holy Spirit showed up and empowered every believer in the room for miraculous works. And the sign of His presence was that everyone of them was given tongues that were different from their native language.

And now finally the Holy Spirit falls unexpectedly even today, baptizing individuals and baptizing groups.

He continues to anoint men with great power according to Acts 10 verse 34-43. In this closing remark the apostle Peter told of three men who were sent to him from Caesarea while he was staying in Joppa. And he said that the Holy Spirit told him to go with these strangers having no doubts. And he went in obedience. And they took him to the home of an Italian centurion who was a devout man. He was not a Jew. He was an Italian, a man who feared the Lord. And all in his house feared God.

And when he arrived at Cornelius house, Cornelius was there with all of his family and some of his neighbors waiting for the apostle. At this time, it was not lawful for a Jew to keep company with non-Jews. But Peter began to speak, sharing the gospel with them. And not long after he started, the Holy Spirit fell on the people in the same way that He fell on the apostles at Pentecost. And the people began to speak with tongues and they magnified God. He said he then remembered, Peter did. He then remembered that the Lord had said John indeed baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

And that is what God is saying to all who believe today in the name of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit will baptize us with the power of the Holy Spirit. The awesome and wonderful power of the Holy Spirit for the purpose of going out and doing missions, for the purpose of going out and winning souls and healing and delivering those who are captives. May God bless and keep you with the faith to trust God and to hold on to His precious Word. Amen. Amen.

Welcome friend to the body of believers in Christ. There are many of us here awaiting the return of the Good Master.

In the meantime, we want to encourage you to let your pastor know that you have committed your life to the Lord and you want to be baptized the way Jesus Christ was baptized.

Begin reading the Word of God every day. It is your daily food. It is necessary to strengthen you and keep you strong in the face of temptation. You must read the Word of God. Begin in the book of John, the gospel of love, and then go to Matthew, Mark, and Luke, reading audibly as often as possible, because faith comes by hearing the Word of God.

Pray daily. Attend at your local church, and one glad morning the Savior will come and receive us all unto Himself. And we shall indeed forever be with the Lord. God bless, God keep you, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
