No tears, no death, no sorrow, no pain in the new Jerusalem. That's our message. The text is taken from Revelation 21.
Jesus Christ preached the gospel of the kingdom as He went into towns healing the sick and diseased. He also sent out 70 disciples and told them to tell the people, "The kingdom of God has come near you." And so they went out healing the sick, raising the dead, cleansing the lepers, and driving out demons in the cities to which they were sent. And several years later, the Apostle John would see the manifestation of this glorious kingdom coming down from God out of heaven in a vision. He saw this spectacular and glorious sight when an angel carried him in the spirit up to a very high mountain.
So just what is the kingdom of God? And what does it have to do with what the apostle John saw? Well, friend, the kingdom is an invisible one. Jesus Christ said that the kingdom of God does not come with observation. You will not be able to say see it here or see it there. He said the kingdom of God is within us in Luke 17 and 20. This means it is a spiritual entity and not a physical one. And the kingdom is not about having a good time the way we do here on earth. For Paul wrote that the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. Romans 14:17.
Father, we give You thanks and praise for this glorious day and this wonderful message straight from Your throne of grace and mercy. We pray that the listeners, glory to God, will be blessed in a special way and with a great understanding and with the truth of Your Word. If any error has been injected by me, Father, I pray that you would remove it from their hearts and their minds. And I pray that those that do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior may come into His saving grace today Father. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

The kingdom of God is also near. For Jesus and John the Baptist confirmed this, saying that it was at hand. And the fact that it can come at any moment should draw us to repentance quickly because an unrepentant heart cannot enter God's holy kingdom. God's kingdom is not of this world. Well, according to John 18 and 36, Jesus told Pilate, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight so that I should not be delivered to the Jews." In addition, we must call God's kingdom forth in prayer. And every time we say the Lord's Prayer, this is what we do. We are calling for God's kingdom to come upon the earth. And we are calling for His will to be done in the earth. And this means that His kingdom has not yet come.
God's kingdom is powerful. It's eternal. According to Daniel 2:44, God's kingdom is everlasting. And when it comes, it will do away with every kingdom on earth. Think about it. No other kingdom can stand in the presence of the kingdom of God. Now, here's what John said that he saw. He said, "I, John, saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." At this time, he heard a great voice out of heaven, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people." Revelation 21 and3. He saw the glory of God in a city of lights coming down to the earth. It will be the glorious beginning of the new eternal order upon the earth. And the Lord promises us that when His kingdom comes, He shall wipe away every tear from our eyes. And there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain. For these things shall pass away. In addition, He promises us that He will make all things new and He will give drink to all who are thirsty from the fountain of the water of life freely. And He assures the faithful followers that all who overcome shall inherit all things and He will be our God and we shall be His children.
However, this kingdom is not for everyone. Why do I say that? Well, in verse eight, we are told, "The cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolators, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. They will not be able to enter." And this, excuse me, is the ultimate fulfillment of God's plan for His people. It is the place that He had in mind for us ever since the fall of Adam and Eve. It is the place Jesus went to prepare for us when He told us let not your hearts be troubled. Do not be troubled by the things that you have had to go through in this short life my friend. He also said that there were many mansions in His Father's house.
There are so many who are disillusioned by the troubles of this world. Today trouble is on every side. Many are frustrated by the injustices perpetrated against them and against others. Frustrated by sickness and death and by the ways in which the rich become richer and the poor seem to become poorer. And the troubles of life have caused some to become bitter and to feel hopeless. And this is why drugs, alcohol, gambling, and now computer games, and AI chatbot relationships are convenient escapes to a different reality. But escaping to God's kingdom is the best escape possible. God is bringing His kingdom to change the order of things on the earth completely. And He will do it, friend. He has carefully laid out His plan to do this. And we find it in the book of Revelation. He will transform the justice system. He will do away with politicized governmental systems. He will write the wrongs done to His children. And by taking out vengeance upon the wicked is the way that He will do it. He will end sickness, disease, and all suffering. He will create a new heaven and a new earth. And He allowed His faithful servant John to get a glimpse of this new city of lights and to pass it on to us.
When the prophet Isaiah for instance announced that the dawn of this new day would come with the birth of Jesus Christ, he prophesied saying, "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. They that dwell in the land of the shadow of death. Upon them has the light shined." Isaiah 9 and 2. This light was seen by the people who walked in darkness, but they did not recognize Him. This light is Yeshua Hamashiach. He is Jesus Christ the Messiah. He will be the light for that glorious city. And by sacrificing His life for us, He gained for us the victory over death and the grave, believe it friend, paving the way for this glorious day of redemption and the arrival of the new and eternal order in the kingdom of God.
The book of Revelation tells us that in the new order, we shall be God's people. He Himself will be with us and He will be our God. This is God's gift to all who truly believe and keep His commandments. It is something that is certainly worth dying for and worth patiently waiting for. There will be no more funerals, no more hospital visits, no more medical prescriptions, nor medical procedures, no more taxes, no more looking for a job, no more poverty. There will be no need for retirement benefits, no need for any kind of insurance policy. No more waiting in lines at government offices. There will be no timestamp on any document. Nor will there be a need for any documents at all. No identifications, however, will be required because our new names given by the Father will be written on our foreheads.
In the meantime, we need to overcome the troubles of this world one day at a time. We must avoid becoming anchored down by the deceptive escapes designed by the evil kingdom of this world. Instead, we must cast our anchor onto the Lord and let it grip the solid rock of Christ Jesus our Lord. And this way, the storms of this life will not blow us away.
Friend, we can indeed overcome death. We can endure sickness. We can endure disease. We can endure sorrowing and mourning. And when these shall have been done away with, life on earth will finally become gloriously sweet. This is the great promise that propels the believer in Christ forward day after day with optimism, with hope, and with an abiding joy in spite of the daily challenges of this life. And when the angel told John, "Come see the bride, the Lamb's wife," he carried him away in the spirit to a very high mountain and showed him the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. And so the new Jerusalem is the wife of the King of Kings, and the people of the city must therefore be His children. But John gives no description of the occupants of the city. But we are told only born again believers will be able to enter that glorious city.
The apostle said that when he saw that great city, the holy Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God, he saw that it had the glory of God. I cannot imagine how that looked. But I know it was an awesome sight. And he said the light of the city was comparable to a jasper stone that was clear as crystal. Now, a jasper stone is a remarkably versatile and beautiful stone. But this description telling us that the light of the city is like a jasper stone, clear as crystal, is baffling. And why is it baffling? Because a jasper stone is quite opaque. It has a diversity of colors and intricate patterns. And apparently, the stone comes in every color of the rainbow. And it has countless unique patterns and combinations that make it wonderfully beautiful. But this crystalline jasper stone will be something perhaps never seen before.
It will be totally mind blowing to behold the new Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven, descending smoothly like a huge elevator powered by a smooth hydraulic system. This will be an awesome sight. And the city John saw was perfectly square in its shape, every side being equal in dimension, with the length, the breadth, and the height of it each being 1500 miles. And there were three high gates on each of the four sides, which had the names of the 12 apostles of the Lamb of God, we are told in Revelation 21. And while the huge walls of the city were 216 feet high and also were made of beautiful jasper stones. While the city itself was made of pure gold that looked like clear glass, there were all kinds of precious stones in the foundation and even the streets of the city were made of pure gold. So pure, the Word of God tells us that it looked like transparent glass to John. And John said he saw no temple in the city because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb of God are the temple of that great city. It will be 24:7 in the presence of our great God, our loving Savior.
Amazingly, there was no need for the sun, neither for the moon to shine in the city, because the glory of God lightened the entire city, and the Lamb is the light of the city, and the nations of those who are saved shall walk in the light of the city. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow. Furthermore, the kings of the earth shall bring their glory and honor into the city, and there shall be no night in that city. Therefore, the gates shall never be closed, but will continually be open, and time shall be no more. It will be joy unspeakable and full of glory. In verses 26 and 27, the Word of God says, "And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it." We do not quite know what that means, except that it will be open to all nations. In addition, there shall by no means enter into it anything that defiles or anything that causes an abomination or a lie. And only those whose names are written in the Lamb Book of Life will be allowed entrance. And we know that all faithful men and women of God's names were written in the Lamb Book of Life, even from the foundation of the world. And God has always known those who would be faithful to Him. And the all- knowing God wrote their names down in His holy book even before they were conceived or even able to be thought about.
So there is no room for error, friend. There'll be no situation where your your name will be overlooked or you will be left out. There will be no inadvertent exclusion of any who are faithful to our God. For indeed our God is perfect and He holds us in the palm of His hands. These things, friend, that we worry about sometime like being left behind are not possible. Just remain faithful to God. Remain steadfast, unmovable. Continue to abound in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor will not be in vain, and let God do the rest. God bless His Holy Word.
