Discipleship 101 for Born Again Christians.

Welcome to our discipleship program for new converts. this is a crash course for those who've never been discipled. Please send this message out to every new convert that you can think about. And you can be sure there are many out there who have never been discipled. And so if you've recently committed your heart to Jesus Christ. You have just entered the most exciting season of your entire life. It is a season that is never supposed to end until Christ comes to claim His church. You've entered this season because you heard the voice of the Father calling you. He has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light and you responded positively to the call.

However you are not completely out of the woods yet. Because His Word says many are called but few are chosen and your being chosen will depend on your faithfulness to the call and your determination to hold fast to the very end. This is the most exciting time of your life because you've met the Master of your soul. The King of Kings and the Lord of lords. And He has transformed your heart and made you a new creature, giving you a new life with a new and glorious plan, Furthermore he's given you his holy spirit to live in your heart. The holy spirit is a deposit on what has been promised to all true believers in Christ.

Father we give You thanks and praise for this message. Send it forth under the anointing of Your Holy Spirit. That many will hear and respond and be discipled Father we pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

This can also be the most confusing season for you. You must be mindful. There is a demon, a devil out there called Satan. Who's very anxious to pull you back over the line and back into the world of sin that the Father has called you out of. Satan and his demons have been expelled from your heart by the power of the blood of Jesus Christ. It is His blood that paid for your salvation and set you free from the bondage of slavery to sin. Now these demons want to come back and repossess your vessel. They are determined to do this. If you allow them in they will come back in with reinforcements. And your state will be worse than it was before you surrendered your heart to Jesus Christ, according to Matthew 12:43 to 45. I assure you it will be more difficult to get Satan out next time.

It may be a perplexing time for you because you now have to decide which of the many Christian churches you will become a member of. And perhaps a sad time because you will need to cut ties with some people that you used to hang with. People who are still living according to the standards of the world. And what on Earth are you expected to do about those relationships.

Do not worry my friend. Some of them will fall away naturally. It can also be a puzzling time because you do not know where to start reading in the Holy Bible. Or even which version to use. And how will you be able to understand the Word of God anyway? And yes there are many more questions like where will you find the right people to study with? How would you know what the Lord wants you to do? Fear not my friend. The Holy Spirit is the helper and He will guide you.

Fortunately when you accepted Jesus Christ as Lord Savior and Master, the Holy Spirit came along with the package. His purpose is to lead you into all truth. He is your Guiding Light. Your spiritual GPS. And He's going to teach you how to listen to His voice and how to distinguish His voice from the many voices of Satan that you will hear from time to time. He is the one who will give you peace in the midst of every storm of life.

There are many who come to Christ and never fully comprehend that the Holy Spirit comes into our heart at Salvation to be with us forever. Unfortunately they never cultivate their relationship with Him but He is a person and He is one with God the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. Some do not recognize His attempts to communicate with them. Nor do they make the effort to consult with Him. He is that still small voice deep down in your heart. He does not speak very much and He never goes against God's Word.

Meanwhile the devil is constantly in your ear. So do not jump at every voice, every urge, and every spiritual impression that you experience. The Word of God tells us do not believe every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they are of God. For every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, according to 1 John 4: 1 and 2. Being baptized is your first order of business. When the Lord Jesus Christ sent His disciples out He told them to make converts of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, according to Matthew 28 and 19.

The word baptism comes from the Greek word baptizo, which means immerse. Now some sources attempt to prove that baptizo also means pouring. In order to justify their Church's position on pouring water on infants and calling it baptism. But the Word of God clearly says Jesus went straight away out of the water. And it says this in Matthew 3:16. In order for this to happen He would have had to have first been in the water. So plain and simple churches who teach that pouring water on a baby is baptism are in error. Jesus Christ was immersed and we also should be immersed because He is the way, the truth and the life. In fact at His baptism Christ told John the Baptist that being baptized was the fulfillment of all righteousness. In other words it is an important part of the salvation process.

At this time we will pause the message for about 60 seconds to give you an opportunity to give your heart to Jesus Christ if you've not done so. Please follow me in this prayer:

• Father I am a sinner and I'm sorry for all my sins.

• Please forgive me.

• I want to return to you Lord.

• And so today I invite Jesus Christ to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.

• Dear Lord Jesus I give You the key to my heart.

• I now belong to You forever.

• Please give me the Holy Spirit to lead me into all truth.

• Thank You Lord for saving my soul. Amen.

Welcome friend to the body of believers in Christ. We will have further instructions for you at the very end of the message. Now back to the message.

Repentance is the key to salvation and it means return to God. In order to fully repent you need to regretfully confess that you are a sinner, acknowledging that you were wrong. Ask God the Father to forgive you and to change you completely. Now please consider this. How can you ask forgiveness of God, expecting to receive it, if you've not forgiven your brother or sister. This is impractical. Therefore you will need to do an inventory of your lifetime experiences and release all those who have hurt or offended you over the years and forgive them if you've not already done.

One of the most costly errors made by born again believers in Christ. Is failure to indulge in daily reading of God's holy Word. Which is your spiritual food. So begin in the Book of John, also known as the gospel of love. Then go to Matthew, Mark, Luke and the book of Acts.

Reading the Word of God audibly will increase your faith, because Faith Comes by hearing God's Word. And so the more you hear God's Word the stronger your faith will become. Many reports say that the King James version is the most reliable English version of the Holy Bible. King James only commissioned the translation of the English version of the Holy Bible in 1604, but he had no hand in its preparation. This time tested version was translated by 47 Scholars and clergymen over a seven-year period. You may use the new King James or The New American Standard Bible version for clarification when the language of the King James becomes too difficult for you to understand. And this will happen.

Now in addition to all of this Satan has infiltrated the Christian church. And today many denominations have their own set of beliefs alongside the Holy Bible. My friend this is not God's plan and it can be so discouraging to the new convert. However the Lord tells us in John 14, let not your heart be troubled you believe in God believe also in Me. In My Father's House are many mansions. If it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Therefore I encourage you to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as laid out in the Holy Bible. Do not be troubled by the doctrines of various Christian churches. Stick to the Holy Bible and let it be your compass and your guiding light. In this way you will not be led astray. Be guided by what is written in the Word of God. Because the Word of God is living and powerful. And sharper than any two-edged sword according to Hebrews 4:12. The Holy Spirit will lead you through it. Then according to 2nd Timothy 3:16, it says all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine for reproof. And reproof is conviction of sin. Of course it is profitable for correction, for instruction, and righteousness. That the man of God may be complete. Thoroughly equipped for every good work.

When Christ returns He will gather all who follow His Word. All true believers will become one, having the same heart, the same mind, and possessing the same spirit. The Book of Psalms tell us to let God's Word be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. And so we are to hide it in our hearts. And in so doing we will not sin against Him. What about your friends? Well the Word of God says friendship with the world is enmity toward God. This is a difficult saying but it is God's Word. Then in Luke 14 and 26, Jesus Christ gives an even more stern Word about this. He says if anyone comes to Me and does not hate his Father and Mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes and even his own life. He cannot be my disciple. So we must be prepared to forsake all for the Lord and to deny self for the good of the Gospel. This Word is not just for the disciples but it is for all of us.

The apostles forsook their families and followed Christ for three years and then for the rest of their lives. The Apostle Paul for instance who did not walk with Christ forsook his family and associates and was set apart for 3 years. He was pulled away from the world in order to establish the new course for his life after meeting the Lord Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus. The story of the children of Israel is a story about a people set apart, separated by God for Himself. Now if there's one scripture that will help you preserve your salvation here it is in 2nd Corinthians 6: 14,15 and 17 where it says do not be unequally yoked together. And this means do not be mismatched with, do not be unequally bound together with unbelievers. Then the Word goes on to say for what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord or agreement has Christ with Belial, who is Satan. Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever. And then we are told, come out from among them and be separate says the Lord.

My friend failure to adhere to this command can sink the very boat of your salvation. The Lord was constantly warning the children of Israel about joining themselves to the sinful practices of their neighbors. They were forbidden to marry unbelievers. An unsaved person is not a true believer. For if he truly believed he would cast his care upon the Lord and come in from the world. The Lord will send new people into your life my friend to help you grow in your newfound faith. Patiently wait on Him. However you must be alert and on the lookout for false teachers, false prophets, and counterfeit Christians who will try and weasel their way into your heart and into your life. You will know them by their fruit.

Attending the weekly Bible study at your church will bring you into a new realm of understanding. It will open your eyes to God's Word like you never imagined and yet so few born again believers make time for attending Bible study. Larger churches may have cell groups or home groups where certain leaders hold weekly Bible study in their homes. Bible study is where your faith will blossom and begin to bloom. It all begins here and this makes attending church even more meaningful and enjoyable. May the Father bless you with clarity of mind, clarity of speech. His never-ending peace. Power to resist the enemy and a good understanding of His holy Word as you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth. He has promised never to leave you and never to forsake you. He will be faithful to this promise and all His many other promises. God bless and keep you in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

You made a commitment during this message so we want to give you a few simple instructions. Number one become water baptized as quickly as possible. It is the fulfillment of all righteousness and a very important part of the process. Begin reading the Word of God every day. It is your spiritual food.

Begin in the Book of John, then go to Matthew, Mark and Luke. Reading audibly as often as possible because faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Pray daily. Attend at your local church. And one glad morning the Savior will come and receive us all unto Himself. And we shall forever be with the Lord. God bless and keep you in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
