Breaking news. The revelation of the identity of the prostitute called Babylon. The journey through these two cities called Babylon has been a most intriguing one. At times perplexing, at other times near frustrating, and yet it has also been enjoyable and very rewarding. And you may be saying that you have no real interest in this subject, but I hasten to remind you of its importance to all believers in Christ. God Himself has commanded us to come out of Babylon. And how can we come out if we did not know that we were in Babylon and if we did not know who or what Babylon was in the first place?

As we study this topic, please know that if the Lord advises us to come out of her, then it means we can know who and what she is. For it would be impossible for the saints of God to obey this command otherwise. So then the question of who is the mystery mother of harlots may be less complicated than it appears and more important than we realize. I am certain the Holy Spirit will help us to process this. In this message, you will discover that both Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul gave us the answer to this mystery which has puzzled the church for almost 2,000 years.

Father, we thank You for the blood of Jesus over the listeners to this message. We thank You for Your grace and mercy and all of Your wonderful goodness to the people of God. To all who believe and know that You are God and that Jesus Christ is Your son. Bless the listener. Father, we pray in Jesus holy name. Amen.

Now, here's what we know. By the time Jesus Christ begins His thousand-year reign on earth, Babylon would have already fallen and moved out of His way because there will be no chance of survival for a corrupt religious and a corrupt political power, or a corrupt nation when the Lord establishes His millennial rule on the earth. Furthermore, we are told how Babylon will fall. Revelation 17 verses 16 and 17 say the 10 horns on the scarlet colored beast will hate the harlot. Now these 10 horns represent 10 kings and the harlot represents that great city. I continue and they will make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. End of quote. In the same text, we are told they will do this because God will put it in their hearts to fulfill his purpose. The 10 kings will be of one mind and will all give their power to the beasts until God's purpose is fulfilled. They will be a group similar to the G7, except they will be even more closely knit.

We also know that Babylon will fall quickly. Scripture tells us three times that it will fall in one hour. Repeating this one hour fall twice to make certain that we understand. The first announcement of Babylon's fall is found in Revelation 18:10 and says, "Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city, for in one hour your judgment has come." And this is repeated in verses 17 and 19. It will be the greatest one hour collapse of a nation in the history of the world.

The rise and fall of nations in the history of time revealed to us that one nation after another has risen up and become the most dominant nation in the world. And just as these nations have risen, they have also fallen. Except America, which some say is presently on the brink of collapse. They all fell because they caved into the spirit of lust and pride. And just as the United States has caved in. The simple message here is that apart from the new Jerusalem, there will be no truly great city on earth. Every city is flawed except the new Jerusalem which will come down from heaven.

Sooner or later, the nations raised up by God all become totally corrupted and become a stench in His nostril and He then allows them to be thrown down. Therefore, in the history of the world, power shifts have happened over and over again. Today, the battle lines seem to be drawn between China, Russia, and India as they try to topple America. Russia has been striving for world domination, but their weaknesses have been exposed by their war with Ukraine, and they will decline even more if this war drags on. On the other hand, it appears that the United States is losing its dominance to China. Will Babylon be a nation that will rise up in the future? We have no idea.

While Babylon looked more like a system of corruption in chapter 17, the imagery used by John in Revelation 18 make a very compelling argument that she's more likely a great city or even a group of the most powerful cities or nations of the world. The details given of her destruction paint a stark picture of a physical city being destroyed and not one that is purely metaphorical. The specific language used to describe Babylon's destruction are very clear and precise painting a clear picture of an actual city. So here are some of those images used by the Apostle John in verse two of chapter 18.

After her destruction, she will become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every vile spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird.

Then verse three says, "The merchants or businessmen of the earth have been made rich by her delicacies." Perhaps this means by all of her beautiful products and material things.

Verse 7 then says she has glorified herself and lived deliciously and she says in her heart I set a queen and am no widow and shall see no sorrow. Perhaps she's saying here that she's untouchable. No one can attack her because of her mighty power.

Then in verse 8 we are told that her plagues will come in one day. Death and mourning and famine. Friends, it will all go downhill fast for this great nation.

She will be utterly burned with fire. For strong is the Lord God who judges her, the Word of God says. And this might be like the first trumpet judgment when a third of the earth is burned with fire.

Verse 9 says, "The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived deliciously or luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her when they see the smoke of her burning."

Verse 10 says, "They will stand at a distance for fear of her torment. They will say, "Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city."

And then the Word of God says, "In their lament, the kings of the earth that did deals with her will say, for in one hour your judgment has come."

The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore. And this, of course, refers to gold, silver, precious stones, and pearls, fine linen, and purple, silk, and scarlet. Every kind of citron wood, every kind of object of ivory, every kind of object of the most precious wood, bronze, iron, marble, and the lists of their merchandise includes every valuable thing on earth. And the last line speaks of the sale of bodies and souls of men. Yes, they are also for sale in Babylon today.

When we go down to verse 14, it says, "The fruit that your soul longed for has gone from you, and all the things which are rich and splendid have gone from you, and you shall find them no more at all."

The word of God says, "The merchants of these things who became rich by her will stand at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing and saying, "Alas, alas! That great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls." They cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, "What is like this great city?

She is phenomenal. There's nothing like this great city. They're saying and all who had ships on the sea had become rich by her wealth.

In verse 21, the final act, a mighty angel will take up a stone like a great millstone which is round and heavy and used for grinding. And they will throw it into the sea, saying, "Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down and shall not be found anymore."

The word of God goes on to say, "The sound of musicians will not be heard in her anymore. No craftsman of any craft shall be found anywhere. No more sounds of the millstone. There shall not even be the light of a lamp. No more voices of the bridegroom and bride, and there shall be nothing worthwhile left of this wicked city at the end.

In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of all that was slain in the earth. Here we see that Jerusalem is definitely a part of Babylon because it was Jerusalem that Christ said was the murderer of the prophets. And when the Word of God says that Babylon was responsible for the death of all that was slain upon the earth, we know that this must include other nations because no one nation could be held responsible for this since all nations of the earth played a part in murdering its own people.

This will be a total collapse of all commerce and sale of goods of every kind. It will be a collapse of the governmental and political systems that rule the earth today and a total collapse of false religions and cults in this mysterious city and all the cities on the earth. Basic necessities as well as luxuries will no longer be available at all.

Now, did Jesus Christ say anything about Babylon while He was on earth? He did not appear to speak directly about Babylon, but He spoke clearly about an evil world system. And He also said, "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to one and despise the other." And He says, "You cannot serve God and mammon." And this is found in Matthew 6 and 24. But what is or who is mammon?

Well, mammon is the material gods of money, possessions, fame, status, and all valuable things of the world system. These are the treasures of Babylon. If you're chasing material wealth, you are in Babylon. If you live to fight for your political party, you are in Babylon. If you're chasing fame, you're living in Babylon. If you follow false religions and are led by error, you are certainly in Babylon.

In the Gospel of John, Christ spoke of the kingdom of the world as if it was an entity that His followers were taken out of. He said it this way, I have manifested Your name unto the men You gave me out of the world. John 17 and six. He was speaking of the apostles and disciples. And He's saying that they were no longer living in the world. They were no longer chasing after the things of the world. And this implies that all in Christ are separated out of this mysterious world system. And it has no power over us. Neither does it have any appeal.

John 17 and 12 records Him telling the Father, "While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Therefore, the followers of Christ remained in the world but were living in a separate realm under the name of the Father. And so do all who believe in Jesus Christ.

In verse 14, He clarifies it more saying, I have given them Your Word and the world hated them because they are not of the world even as I am not of the world. And here we see a clear distinction between those in Christ and those living in Babylon.

In verse 15, He prayed to the Father for His apostles and disciples, saying, "I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one." Therefore, it is clear that believers in Christ can live in the world and not be of the kingdom of the world.

Ephesians 6 elucidates this evil kingdom by telling us it fights against the people of God and is our true enemy. Here's what the Word of God says and we are familiar with this. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places. Friend, this paints the clearest picture of this complex entity called mystery Babylon the great, the mother of harlots and abominations on the earth. She embodies the kingdom of the world which represents these principalities, powers, and the rulers of the darkness and these spiritual wickedness in the heavenly places above us that have corrupted the earth. And those who live on the earth have been corrupted by her for thousands of years.

These principalities, these powers will have control over all in the world whose names are not written in the Lamb's book of life from the foundation of the world. But those who are followers of Jesus Christ, whose names are written in that book, will not be controlled by these rulers of darkness. And therefore we are admonished to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. And all who walk in the flesh give the control of their life to these powers without realizing it because they live in the realm of the kingdom of the world. And believers in Christ have a special cover from the blood of Jesus Christ having been taken out of the world. And this cover keeps them from walking as the people of the world walk because they walk in the spirit and not in the flesh.

We are also told how to live victoriously in this wicked city of Babylon in Ephesians 6 and 11 which says take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand. And Revelation 12 tells us that the saints of God overcame him, meaning they overcame Satan and his wicked city of Babylon by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.

Perhaps this great prostitute called Mystery Babylon, while she may be represented by a single great evil world power or regime in the final days, all other nations will be under her power and control, under her spell, and the seat of Babylon's power will be the most powerful nation on earth through which she will rule the nations and subsequently the world. God bless and keep you in Jesus mighty name.

You've been listening to this message and perhaps you do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and you want to come out of the world. You want to come out of Babylon and you want to live for Jesus Christ. Well friend, we want to give you an opportunity to make that dynamic switch today by giving your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. Please say this prayer after me:

-Father, I am a sinner.

-I am sorry for all my sins, Lord. All my disobedience.

-I crave Your forgiveness, Father.

-Thank You for Your patience with me.

-Thank You for Your mercy and Your forgiveness.

-Today, I invite Jesus Christ into my heart.

-Dear Lord Jesus, make my heart Your home.

-I give You the key to my heart because I now belong to You forever.

-Please give me the Holy Spirit to lead me into all truth.

-Thank You, Lord, for saving my soul. Amen.

Welcome, friend, to the body of believers in Christ. There are many of us here waiting to be gathered on that glorious morning. In the meantime though, we ask you to become water baptized as quickly as possible. Let your pastor know that you've committed your life to the Lord and you want to be baptized in the manner in which Jesus Christ was baptized by immersion. In addition to that, the word of God is to be your daily food. Begin reading in the book of John. Then go to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and then the book of Acts. Pray daily. Attend at your local church. And one glad morning, the Savior will come and receive us all unto Himself. And we shall indeed forever be with the Lord. God bless and keep you in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
